Design No. dated June 25 1867. DESIGN FOR AN ENVELOPE. Itt 20tantt rtftrrth to in tktse getters jnttnt nn making part of tilt samt. TO ALL WHOM I'T MAY CONCERN: Be it known that I ELISHA MORGAN of Springfield in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts have invented a new and useful Design for Envelopes and I do hereby declare that the following is a full clear and exact description thereof which will enable others skilled in the art to understand the same reference being had to the drawings forming part of this specification. The drawings are a back view of this invention. This invention relates to an ornamental design for envelopes whereby said envelope attains a novel and elegant appearance which distinguishes the same from all envelopes heretofore made and known to me. Figure 1. A represents the top side flap which extends from the corners a a with inclined sides to b b thence by inclined sides to c c thence by curved sides to d d thence from the points d d to e. That portion of the flap A from the points d d to the point e is designed for adhesive gumming for sealing the envelope the application of the gum being restricted between the points d d. B represents the bottom side flap of the same shape as the flap A. C C represent the end flaps folded under the bottom side flap B the ends of the same meeting the point of the bottom side flap B at f forming the pocket D of a similar shape as the top side flap Witnesses: A. L. SouLE GEO. A. RUSSELL. A covering the same. Figure 2 represents the envelope described and shown in fig. 1 with the top side flap folded down covering the pocket D. What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The design for an envelope as shown and described. The above specification of my invention signed by me this twentyfourth day of May A. D. 1867. E. MORGAN.
